Does the Club fly every week? Yes, you may find someone flying someplace every week. Join the Bakersfield Multirotor FaceBook page to keep updated on all local activities. Does Bakersfield Multirotor fly in the heat of the summer? Yes, the heat can be bad but we fly all summer long.   Some FPV goggles now come with fans and that helps. Some members own easy-ups or we all sit under shade trees including flying in the morning or late afternoon. Is the Bakersfield Multirotor AMA Chartered field opened to all AMA members? The Bakersfield Multirotor AMA Chartered Field (St. John’s) is open to all BMR club members that hold a valid AMA membership.  As the club pays a monthly rent, it's only fair that others pay as all should pay for the privilege to fly at the field but the first 3 months are free as long as you follow all the requirements stated including becoming a RCFlightDeck.com  member of Bakersfield Multirotor. No leeway on AMA membership as per insurance we cover for St. John's you must be an AMA member before you can fly at St John's.  Out of town visitors get 12 free days a year to fly at St John's but still also requires AMA membership.  See Schedule  What times are the Bakersfield Multirotor AMA Chartered field open? The AMA charted fields is a 500 foot by 300 foot locked in grass field and only opened by three Club members per meet-ups and/or FaceBook events hosted by Bakersfield Multirotor Club. The hours for St John's are from 9am to 6pm Saturday and 3pm to 7pm Sunday all year but only per FaceBook and/or RCFlightDeck.com events the club host. Join the Bakersfield Multirotor group today and let us know you live in bakersfield or within driving distance and we will add you to the BMR Local Chat group so you will know when and if we are flying. My spouse and children fly, do they require membership in the Bakersfield Multirotor Club? Your spouse and children are part of the club for free. Only one member per immediate family is required to pay dues.  All members are required to be AMA members if they plan on flying at any AMA sanctioned event or AMA chartered flying field. Did you know, AMA membership for under 19 is free? Why do I need to be a BMR Club RCFlightDeck.com member? The Bakersfield Multirotor Club uses RCFlightDeck.com to track membership, collect member dues, and manage club members membership time lines.  To be a members is mandatory that you Join the free Bakersfield Multirotor Clum RCFlightDeck group. What is the cost to become a Bakersfield Multirotor Club members? Member dues are just about $5 a month and paid through RCFlightDeck.com only OR Yearly membership at $60 or just $30 for Half a Year, paid through RCFlightDeck.com, PayPal or cash to the club treasure. First Join the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) at https://www.modelaircraft.org if you are not already an AMA member. 2. Than the simplest way to join the club is fill out and submit this Bakersfield Multirotor Club membership information form (Click Here). You can bring a printed receipt on your first scheduled flying day and send your AMA number to the club at a later date by resending this form or emailing your name and number to BakersfieldMultirotor@gmail.com 3. Also Join the Bakersfield Multirotor Club RCFlightDeck.com.com group page (Click Here). You will get your first three months free by the club secretary once they receive your information form.  At the end of three months, RCFlightDeck.com will ask you for a credit card payment to remain a member if you have not already arranged payment by PayPal or cash with the club treasure. Do Pilots need a Ham Radio license to fly FPV? We also strongly encourage our pilots to hold a Technician-Class License, which is required from the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) to transmit the video signal from your aircraft back to your visual display on the amateur radio band and frequencies. Why is Bakersfield Multirotor Club an Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) Chartered Club?  The AMA is the lowest cost method for Bakersfield Multirotor Club to cover the required insurance required by all the flying locations owners and event locations. With the combined membership fees by the club and AMA membership, this fully covers the full cost of the insurance requirements. What is the AMA? The AMA is the worlds largest model aviation organization representing over 180,000 members. AMA is the chartering organization for more than 2,500 model airplane clubs across the country. AMA offers its chartered clubs official contest sanction, insurance, and assistance in getting and keeping flying sites. Flying site assistance and disaster relief funds are available to chartered clubs. Club members are only required to follow all FAA rules and if your craft meets the FAA requirements, than the Club does recommend you should be FAA registered. More information on FAA registration may be found here (Click Here Now) Do I need a FaceBook account or join BMR FaceBook group to be part of Bakersfield Multirotor or join the club?  FaceBook is the main communication method with Bakersfield Multirotor but you do not need to be on FaceBook to be part of Bakersfield Multirotor.  It does help to be on FaceBook as you can communicate with fellow members, know when events may be scheduled or moved, or just follow the sport with people from all over the world. The Only requirements to be a member of the club, besides chip-in dues and being a member of the AMA  is to join the Bakersfield Multirotor RCFlightDesk.com  group. The RCFlightDesk.com group will also list all scheduled club events so you will not miss out when the AMA field is unlocked. What aircraft are allowed at the Bakersfield Multirotor Chartered AMA Club flying site?  Only RC battery powered Multirotors, helicopters, and airplanes (& FPV Wings) are allowed. The BMR Chartered field does not allow craft with internal combustion engines I don’t live in Bakersfield but would like to fly with the club at the AMA field, do I need to become a BMR Club member?  Non-local visitors are welcome to fly with us at the AMA chartered field twelve (12) times a year without becoming a Bakersfield Multirotor Club member. All visitors must be an AMA member to fly at all sanctioned and chartered flying sites and events.
