Drone Racing by Bakersfield Multirotor Club

Welcome to the new and exciting sport of Drone Racing. Drone Racing can be very exciting for not just the pilots but as a spectator also.  Unlike other RC racing sports, Drone Racing will take you into the unlimited 3D immersion racing experience first hand as if you are in the pilots seat of the Race craft. As a RC Drone Racing pilot, you will have the feeling as your flying in the aircraft next to your fellow pilots and as a spectator, you get to experience Drone Race in person and feel the wind and hear the sounds as the pilots battle one on one to be the best. Stop on by the Bakersfield Multirotor FaceBook group and Bakersfield Multirotor MultiGP pages to find out when the next scheduled local race is and come race with us or come just to watch a drone race in person. If you are a pilot and would like to Race, don’t forget to stop on over the BMR Race page for information and rules. If you have questions about the club, you may find that information on the Club page and the FAQ page. If you are hosting an event and you would like Bakersfield Multirotor Club (BMR) to run a Drone Race for your event or other reasons. you have come to the correct location. BMR has an EVENT System (see below) to help explain how you can help and if there are any cost involved. Bakersfield Multirotor ask that you give us at least 30 to over 90 days advanced notice to help set up and work on scheduling for the event. Use this calendar to help schedule your local event and avoid other events so there are no conflicts. Local Events

Local events are why Bakersfield Multirotor exists in part. Each member and attendees are always looking for fun and exciting locations to fly in and run Drone Race but there is a cost of time and materials that cannot be ignored. Drone Races are existing but also need to be safe. BMR has secured insurance for it’s already scheduled and soon to be scheduled races, but as to new locations, Insurance and other safety aspects need to be considered, including cost of insurance, equipment, facilities, food, and personal running the Drone Dace. Depending on the circumstances, the cost is very low too maybe no cost. Contact the Bakersfield Multirotor president for worst case scenario cost for Local Drone Race Events and lets work together to keep the cost down and put on the most exciting Drone Race Bakersfield has ever seen.

Regional & State/Regional Events

Bakersfield Multirotor loves non-local Drone Race but there is a large cost of time and materials that cannot be ignored. Drone races are existing but also need to be safe, require insurance, and other safety aspects need to be considered, including the cost of the insurance, equipment, facilities, food, and personal running the Drone Race and the cost of food, accommodations, and travel for all personal running the events. Depending on the location and circumstances, the cost is more substantial Contact the Bakersfield Multirotor president for worst case scenario cost for Regional & State/Regional Drone Race Events and lets work together to keep the cost down and put on the most exciting Drone Race Bakersfield has ever seen.

AMA Sanctioned / Insurance Info

Each Event will be be sanctioned by the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) per this example and Insurance Examples (Click Here).

Pilot Information

All Pilots shall receive free entry to event plus one free guest per pilot ticket. Per AMA Insurance, All Pilots will be required to be Academy of Model Aeronautics members in good standing per the cost of the Pilot o http://www.modelaircraft.org Bakersfield Multirotor makes no guarantees of pilot participation or who the pilots are. Host is required to discuss the amount of pilots with BMR to manage schedule of race.

Host Responsibility.

All permits, equipment, track equipment beyond items not provided by BMR Club, including spectator barricades Provide 2 Large spectator TV's, Host to Provide Netting as required and hanging as needed and provide Net quad (drone) retrieval personal on event days and equipment as applicable. Provide Internet / Wifi suitable for live streaming and Timing system Provided electrical for computers, timing systems, lights and pilot battery charging Host will be responsible to provide a Pilot Pit area that includes chairs, tables, and shade for all pilots and pilot plus one guest per event o Mandatory for all indoor events o We may work with pilots and request that they bring their own chairs, tables, and shade or outdoor events.  Provide pilot restrooms, pilot snacks, and water Provide minimum of 3 race winner trophies / plaques and/or responsible for race prizes and/or money as applicable including incentives for pilots to attend the Drone Race. Provide all spectator barricades as required for the race track and pilot pit area including barricades for 5 foot separation from netting as required for safety Pilot registration shall end at least 7 days prior to the race / event and provided pilot details  to Race Director

What is the AMA?

The Academy of Model Aeronautics, established in 1936, is a world-class association of model aviation enthusiasts. Representing more than 185,000 members in the United States. AMA’s national headquarters is in Muncie, Indiana, also home to the International Aermodeling Center and the National Model Aviation Museum. The museum, the largest of its kind in the world, houses nearly 11,000 artifacts. Originally created to organize and support competitive aeromodeling, AMA has evolved and today has become the collective voice and advocate for its membership.
